Little Caaesar’s Arena
Detroit, Michigan
Moment’s after Refueled 88
Gerald Reeves still is convinced Hollywood didn’t get very far as he comes storming out of the arena with a few of his men. Just as Gerald is getting ready to sweep the perimeter one more time, a car comes screeching around the corner from the parking lot and takes off right in front of Gerald which gets him to alert the rest of his men.
Gerald Reeves: “Alright, there’s are boys! Let’s go men!”
Before long, Gerald and his men left in three black government vehicles speeding off after the car. A few seconds pass before they are all out of view of the camera as the scene becomes quiet for just a few moments. The camera is focused on the parking lot as two men emerge from around the corner of the building. One of them being Brian Hollywood and the other one is unknown as he’s all masked and hooded up. Hollywood shakes his head as he knew Gerald would get too close for comfort. Before long, Hollywood turns to the mystery masked man and asks the most obvious question.
Brian Hollywood: “I suppose I don’t really need to know who you are, do I? It’s because I already know!”
The mysterious man nods his head and begins to laugh as Hollywood recognizes that laugh all too well.
Brian Hollywood: “I guess I should be thankful for you tonight being here, Chair.”
The Chair: “Your insights serve you well, Mr. Hollywood! Who would have ever thought that both Gerald and myself would show up on High Octane Television. You should have known this was always inevitable. There isn’t a secret you can keep from me that I already don’t know.
Brian Hollywood: “Yes, I’m aware of that. You only brag and boast about it literally every chance that you can get. What I don’t understand, though, is your resources. How the fuck do you have so many of them? Why was it….that all those years ago I never even heard of you but you not only have this entire empire…but you’ve managed to always keeping your identity a secret. My question I want to know is why?”
This was not a conversation The Chair was wanting to have right now. He chuckles a bit as he tries to blow off Hollywood’s inquiry.
The Chair: “Some people are destined to remain in the shadows sometimes. That’s the way I’ve always operated. I don’t need people knowing who I am or why I exist. Believe it or not, if some people had come to find out who I was…I would not only be exposed and left as public enemy number one…but there are those around me that if they found out the truth, it could do more harm than good.”
Hollywood couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He didn’t know why, nor understood why, but it seemed like The Chair was opening up to Hollywood more than ever before and it threw Hollywood off completely.
Brian Hollywood: “Well at any rate…one of these days your luck may run out and I’m still on the top of your list of people that is desperate to know who the fuck you are.”
The Chair lets out a smirk as he quite enjoyed Hollywood’s little comment.
The Chair: “Heh, come on now brother, with the several opportunities you’ve gotten and came away cold every time, what makes you think this next time will be any different?”
There was that word again. Hollywood bats his eyebrow up as he can’t seem to shake why The Chair keeps using that term. They weren’t friends and they certainly haven’t known each other for longer than the other kept fighting the other in their war. Hollywood starts to ponder some more about the term but doesn’t reveal his thought process to The Chair. He knew he was in a vulnerable state, even if he wanted to deny it and was completely firing on all cylinders…Hollywood couldn’t help but to wonder and wonder some more. Every time he thought he had gotten close, the thought wouldn’t remain long enough for Hollywood to ponder further.
Brian Hollywood: “You know, I took a gamble on showing up in High Octane Wrestling. Both Gerald and Buck knew about my double life but they didn’t find out until about a year ago. I don’t know how I kept it so secret for so long. I mean, here I would be popping up on people’s televisions every week and yet, neither one of them took notice of it. I guess it was good for starters that neither one of them had been an avid wrestling fan for quite some time. Maybe hiding out in plain sight was always the answer. Let me tell you something, it really does help. Hiding out in plain sight is best place to be. Right under their noses.”
The Chair doesn’t respond as he stands there in complete silence like he’s thinking about something. Hollywood takes notice of this as well and can’t seem to figure out why The Chair was acting the way he was.
Brian Hollywood: “You’re unusually quiet. What’s going on with you, dare I ask? Hell, I’m daring myself I don’t even get a proper response from you because you’re always dodging the question and always beat around the bush. I guess that makes you just as good at what you do like myself.”
The Chair finally speaks as he wasn’t originally going to answer Hollywood’s question. He was going to do exactly what Hollywood said he was going to do. Beat around the bush and dodge the questions. I mean, he was good at it, after all according to Hollywood. Why stop doing something that you’ve always been really good at.
The Chair: “Let’s just say I wasn’t always in this position. I had a normal life…at least I thought it was normal. My mother died when I was very young. I also had two siblings…but I never got a chance to get to know them as my life changed forever moving forward. As for my other sibling, I couldn’t just–“
All of a sudden, The Chair stops himself from talking anymore about it as he couldn’t pull himself to talk about such things and he sure as hell didn’t want Hollywood to use it against him. It was weakness and The Chair had become a master of eliminating weakness from his life. That’s why, despite all the mystery surrounded by curiosity, he kept quiet and was a master of being careful. Just then, The Chair gets an alert on his phone as Hollywood was so close in potentially finding out more unsolved questions that surrounded The Chair’s life. He was so close and it was the biggest breakthrough he had ever had in getting to know the potential identity of The Chair.
The Chair: “Well would you look at that! You know how you’ve been trying to track down your tag team partner, Eli Dresden? Well, it just happens that my men have found her….and they aren’t the only ones!”
Brian Hollywood: “Well, where is she?”
Hollywood asked about it and despite the fact he wasn’t happy because he was about to find out some potentially big answers about who The Chair really is, he knew he had to find Eli at all costs.
The Chair: “According to my source, she’s literally a couple blocks from here. So let’s go…I have a security detail closing in on her now!”
Both Hollywood and The Chair hurry into their getaway vehicle as they literally speed a couple blocks down the street as Eli Dresden comes into frame. Just as Hollywood sets his sights on her, he sees Gerald and his men not far behind as Hollywood shouts at Eli, getting her attention.
Brian Hollywood: “Eli! Behind you! RUN!”
Eli wasn’t exactly expecting company as she was startled to see Gerald Reeves and a few extra men in black suits chasing her down. Eli doesn’t ask any questions right now as she’s seen running towards Hollywood and The Chair very quickly. Gerald sees her and then sees Hollywood and The Chair together and almost lost his shit as he yells out towards all of them.
Gerald Reeves: “GOD DAMN IT BRIAN!! I told you I would find you! You and I both know you’re with a very bad man and I don’t know why you’re working with him, but you need to end this now or I WILL!”
Hollywood doesn’t reply as Eli is finally able to get into the same vehicle as Brian and The Chair were in. A couple of The Chair’s men toss a few smoke bombs which was enough to actually lose their tail much to the frustrated and pissed off Gerald Reeves. Now that the three were traveling together, things were about to get interesting as well as business picking up as the chase and manhunt of Hollywood, The Chair and even Eli was getting hotter as the scene slowly fades to black…
==============================
Things didn’t start out well for Eli and myself. However, nobody would actually guess that we would even get a single tag team victory in this tournament. Truth is, I don’t exactly play with others. I’ve been down that path far too many times to know what ends up happening at the very end. I’m a three time HOW Tag Team Champion…so tag team gold is no stranger to me.
If you had told me a couple months ago that I would be competing in a tag team tournament, let alone getting paired with someone, I would have laughed in your face. That’s because I had made myself crystal clear in my conditions with teaming anyone whatsoever. Eli and I may not be perfect or the perfect tag team at any stretch of the imagination…but I thought after awhile, why the fuck not? I could easily capture tag team gold for a fourth time and I know that option will always be the same no matter what.
However, I couldn’t help but notice a similar pattern in this tournament…just like the last one, I had only lost ONE match…just ONE in my group. Well, here we are again. Bobbinette Carey and Darkwing got the victory over Eli and myself and they are the only team to beat us. So doing the basic math on this one, they are moving on to the quarter finals after winning our group.
ONE fucking match!
ONE difference that positions you here in the land of High Octane Wrestling can change the entire landscape of the company. Trust me…I know this quite well! But I absolutely refuse to give up in our group matches just like that…because you never know what might come your way. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about this company, is that always expect the unexpected and you could turn anything into an opportunity….that’s why they call me the Strategic Opportunist.
That’s why this Sunday night, Cancer Jiles and Bobby Dean will be in the crosshairs. I can’t count on two hands how many times I’ve not only beaten them in tag team action, but in singles matches as well. That’s why this weekend, the forecast will be calling for something similar in store and another victory is within grasp. One way or another, this group round will conclude with the momentum being in Eli and I’s favor.
But be careful gentlemen, all it takes is one trip to the Danger Zone to put you two down once again.
