Madison CD RP #1

It was a late night or rather early Monday morning here in Miami, Florida. High Octane Wrestling’s Chaos 007 aired live here earlier in the evening inside of the FTX arena where we find ourselves. The parking lot was mostly empty and the fans here in Miami had gone home very happy after Chaos 007 had gone off the air. They got to see their hometown hero Jace Parker Davidson defy the odds and not only retain his HOW LSD Championship belt but also become the HOW ICON Champion.

We focus on the back entrance of the arena where two individuals can be seen heading out into the parking lot. One of them is the man himself, The King of Everything Jace Parker Davidson. He had the HOW LSD Championship over his left shoulder and the HOW ICON Championship over his right shoulder. Beside him pulling his gear bag along the pavement was me. Who am I? My name is Madison Carter and for the last seven years I have been the manager and support system of the man beside me. That is until he returned from a serious neck injury after five years to become a professional wrestler once again.

At first things were great. We were an inseparable duo and I even moved from my hometown of Tampa, Florida into his house and even his bed here in Miami, Florida. But then Jace became obsessed with the pro wrestling business. He wasn’t happy just being in HOW, he decided to go and try his hand at being in OCW as well. Then the PWA Alliance came along, TEN-X academy came along, and people like STRONK Godson and other members of The Board in HOW came along. Jace went from being content with just being back in professional wrestling to planning World domination.

His inner circle started to grow more and more as the days went by and then inside of coming back home with me after a show. He would go out and meet other women without even telling me about what or who he was doing these things with. Obviously, my feelings were extremely hurt but I had convinced Jace’s sister Bailey to move into the house with us. At least then I had someone to spend time with while Jace was off forgetting that I even existed. Things at home and between Jace and I were very heated to say the least, but we have come to a very shaky common ground that allowed me to be here tonight by his side in front of his hometown fans in the main event of Chaos 007.

“Will you go start the car? I don’t want to run into any lingering fans who might want a picture or an autograph.” Jace reached into his pocket and pulled out his car keys.

He tossed them over towards me before using his arm to cover his ribs that were in pain after the match earlier tonight against Tyler Adrian Best. I caught the keys in my hands and looked down at them in silence. I took a deep breath before turning to look over at Jace.

“Sorry, I’m not going to be getting into your car.” I said solemnly as I handed him back the keys.

“What are you talking about?” Jace asked with confusion written all over his face.

“I mean that I’m not stupid, Jace. You’re not even planning on going home tonight other than the sole purpose of packing off some clothes and heading out to wherever it is that you’ll be heading.” I crossed my arms over my chest and avoided making eye contact.

“The fuck is you talking about? I am absolutely–” Jace was interrupted as I turned to face him.

“You’re going to absolutely lie to me right now just like you’ve been lying this entire time.” I said with anger in my voice. “Do you honestly think that one barely sincere conversation between us just fixes everything? Yeah, I agreed to be here with you tonight because tonight was a huge deal for you and for me. A career defining moment but tonight? It’s over and now I go back to the very bottom of your priority list.”

I watched as Jace’s face contorted into a very displeased expression. Something that I had become accustomed to lately whenever I hit him with my feelings or the truth of his own actions.

“So, you’re just going to hold this grudge forever? Regardless of me trying to make amends? Regardless of the fact that I’ve been by your side for almost a decade now? I’ve given you a chance to get into the business, to make money, and put food on our table and a roof over your head. But please by all means Madison, tell me what else I could possibly do?” Jace extended his arms out as the sarcasm in his words was obvious.

“And I am so sick of you always throwing that in my face anytime I have an issue with things you do. Just because things progressed the way they have over the years doesn’t mean you’re exempt from poor behavior.” I shook my head but refused to allow myself to break down in front of him.

“Poor behavior? Fine, you want to do this? You want to air dirty laundry and rain on my parade tonight, out of every other tonight of the year? Okay, cool. Fact is Madison, I’m not in love with you. I highly doubt I will ever be in love with you. I’m not looking to get into anything serious with you. I went through a horrible divorce and frankly… I’m enjoying being a single man. I’m not going to marry you, I’m not going to propose to you, and I’m not going to be exclusive to you. You can be my manager, you can be my roommate, and you can be a random piece of ass. I don’t care about that, but it is as far as it’ll ever fucking go. Is that clear enough for you?!” Jace shouts at the top of his lungs.

I was glad no one else was around here in the parking lot to hear any of that. I already knew everything he said to be the truth, but it still hurt to hear the words literally screamed at me in such a manner.

“I know that, but that isn’t the issue. The issue is a manner of common courtesy and respect. For over a year now you’ve treated me like less of a human being. You’ve taken advantage of me both physically and emotionally and I let you do it. Why? Because since day one I have bent over backwards for YOU. At the very least you could have talked to me before you decided to start sticking your dick into anything willing to spread its legs. You could have at least respected me just a tiny bit and informed me that getting your dick wet was more important than traveling with me and allowing me to do my job as your manager.” I could feel the knot in my stomach twisting and turning. I had to stop and take a few deep breaths to prevent myself from vomiting here on the pavement.

“What do you want me to do, Madison? Say I’m sorry? Build a time machine, go back in time, and do the right thing in your opinion? Sure, let me get right on that!” Jace let out an audible groan.

I don’t know why I put up with him. I don’t know exactly what happened to make him into the person that he is today. Maybe this is who he has always been and I’m only now seeing it because he’s back in the business of professional wrestling and his options are wide open. Regardless, I couldn’t help but care for this man. It’s hard to spend so much time, be intimate, move in, and share a bed with someone and not feel a certain attachment. I was upset, angry, and sick to my stomach all at the same time. I planted my feet on the pavement and straightened my spine as I looked up at him.

“Yeah, I’m not going to hold my breath on any of that. Especially the apology which is why I need to tell you something that you’re not going to like. I can’t just keep living in your shadow for the rest of my life while you go off being who you are without a single care in the world.” I paused and studied his face.

Jace was furious and I knew he would be. Those words are the exact same issues he had with his now ex-wife Tara Michaels. I’ve heard the stories multiple times but now I was living them. I cleared my throat and continued.

“I’ve made a decision. While I will stay your manager and your roommate if you choose to allow me to do so. I am going to start living my life for myself. That’s why I decided to become a professional wrestler. I’ve already signed a contract to join Missouri Valley Wrestling.” I dreaded saying those words but there was no point in trying to hide it.

If Jace was a cartoon? This would be the moment that the top of his head blew off in an eruption of anger. His eyes widened bigger than I had ever seen them. He dropped the title belts from his shoulders and gripped them tightly in his hands as the anger started to flow from his lips.

“The fuck did you just say?!” He asked, obviously trying to intimidate me from making the choice I’ve already made.

“You heard exactly what I said. I signed a contract to join Missouri Valley Wrestling. I have my first match with them this coming Saturday night.” I said with conviction in my voice.

“You’re not even trained to be a professional wrestler. Obviously, you’re just lashing out in a futile attempt to get under my skin!” Jace lifted his arm holding the ICON Championship belt and pointed an accusing finger at me.

“You originally began to train me to be a professional wrestler. That is, until you decided that other things and other people were more important to you. Since you’ve been off fooling around in OCW and enjoying being a single man. I decided to talk your sister Bailey into helping me with training. That way I can make my own way through the business and keep myself occupied while you do whatever it is that you do.” I said while running my fingers through my hair.

Jace’s nostrils were flaring like a bull who was about to charge. He dropped both title belts onto the pavement then stepped towards me, closing the space between us.

“You signed a contract to wrestle in MVW? You know who runs that place, right? Ray McAvay, the guy that I beat the shit out of and set on fire. The guy that holds a War Games victory that should be mine over a goddamn technicality. The guy that is friends with Joe Fucking Bergman. Who just happens to be another thorn in my side and oh, a member of the Highwaymen. You traitorous fuck!” Jace hissed through clenched teeth before reaching out and grabbing a hold of the collar of my shirt.

I braced myself for the impact of a slap or a punch from Jace. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that he’s laid his hands on me and after I just revealed that I was a wrestler for MVW. I was sure it wouldn’t be the last.

“I’ve got zero professional matches under my belt and not only is MVW under the PWA alliance, but they were the one place willing to take a chance on a rookie like me. Obviously, my association with you didn’t help matters. But MVW is just the beginning, I’m also in negotiations with Five Boroughs Wrestling on joining their roster.” I refused to cower even if he was twice my size.

Jace just stood there gripping my shirt in his hand in silence. I could tell by the look in his eyes he was trying to process everything that was said here in this parking lot. I did feel a slight bit of regret over all of this happening on the night he got to win the HOW ICON Championship belt here in Miami but if not now than when? After an awkward amount of time passes, Jace just let’s go of my shirt then leaned down and picked up the two Championship belts off of the ground. He grabbed a hold of his gear bag from beside me then spun on his heels and began to walk off towards where his car was parked.

“Tell Samantha I said hello!” I shouted towards him.

Was that petty? Clearly, it was but at this point I felt I deserved it after everything I’ve been through. Jace completely ignored the comment as he made it to the driver’s side door of his vehicle. He yanked the door open then tossed the gear bag and the two Championship belts into the passenger’s seat. Jace stepped into the vehicle and slammed the door behind him. I stood there and watched as the car came to life and he pulled out of the parking lot. I knew from the direction he took that he wasn’t headed back to the house. He was heading directly towards the airport.

“Guess I need to get myself an Uber if I’m going to get home tonight.” I sighed as I pulled out my cell phone.

I ran my finger across the screen of my phone and pulled up the Uber app. I put in the information and quickly hoped that I would get an understanding driver. One that would get here quickly and would be kind enough to not mention the tears that were currently ruining my makeup.
