In New York City we focus on the Madison Square Garden arena, the site of the August 8th edition of Monday Night Massacre. The show that I had appeared on earlier in the evening. The show had been over, and the building was just about empty. I had brought EPU members with me to the show, but I sent most of them away ahead of me. I kept one with me inside of the arena as I started to tie up some loose ends’ backstage.
After that was taken care of and done, the EPU member and I exited the building and made our way to a car that was waiting for us in the parking lot. I stepped into the back of the car followed by the EPU member. Once the door was shut, I gave the driver directions to get to Adi Goldblum’s apartment. Things had been awkward since early this morning and every single time I’ve tried to call her or text her she’s either not responded or sent me to voicemail. So goddamn childish since I know she has her phone since I can see her tweeting on Twitter. The pity party is reaching epic proportions.
Wait, did I just say the word epic?
I’m going to need to wash my mouth out with soap when I get to Adi’s apartment. Figuratively speaking of course because I am not speaking at the moment. Anyway, It seems to be that my adventures on Sunday night somehow hurt Adi’s feelings. Which I honestly do not understand in the slightest bit. Yes, I did agree to take her out on a date today but it’s not like I’m even with her at the moment. She’s not my girlfriend. I am a single man, and I am free to do whatever or whoever I want. Clearly, in other people’s minds that is not the case.
Just by the sheer amount of people that ran to message Adi and try to cheer her up or threaten violence to ‘whoever’ hurt her. Not one of those motherfuckers had the decency to say ‘Hey, that guy isn’t your boyfriend!’ What am I thinking? There isn’t such a thing as common sense on social media. Whatever, I just need to patch this up with Adi then put 100% of my focus on Dead or Alive and become the first ever HOTv World Tag Team Champions. The time to heal has done wonders since July 31st and the training I did with Rayven Hardy helped with preventing ring rust. The ride was oddly quiet, and I got tired of seeing New York City pass by in the window. I reached over and nudged the EPU member with my elbow.
“Stop letting your mind wander off into space. Just because the show is over doesn’t mean your job is done. Pull out your phone and start recording, might as well kill two birds with one stone.” I said as I leaned up a bit in my seat.
The EPU just turned his head to look at me but remained silent. The mask on his face hid his facial expression but the fact that he wasn’t following my request told me that he was utterly confused.
“Are you hard of hearing? I told you to get your phone out and start recording. I don’t care if it’s in your list of job requirements or not. If you want to get paid and remain employed, then you’ll do as I say.” I hissed in a stern tone.
The EPU still didn’t say a word but used his hand to rummage through one of the pockets of his combat gear before pulling out his phone. He ran his finger along the screen a couple of times then raised the phone into the air and pointed it towards me.
“So, it seems like both Joe Bergman and Steve Harrison decided to finally show their faces. Bobbinette Carey also but that’s a face that no one actually wants to see. I’m glad to see that all hope isn’t lost with these people in the pursuit of winning the HOTv World Tag Team Championship belts. I want at least some of it left so that STRONK and myself can see it crumble and fall in your eyes as we hold our HOTv World Tag Team Championship belts.”
I patted the LSD Championship belt that was still around my waist from earlier tonight.
“But it begs the question… just where is everyone else? It’s Monday past midnight and not a peep from three different people involved in this match. Did Xander Azula and Brian Hollywood come to their senses and realize they have a snowball’s chance in Hell of winning this match? Did Conor Fuse speak for one night and sprained his voice box? Is he back to being a mute Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character? I would love to say that these three are busy training like they’ve never trained before, but we all know that isn’t fucking true.”
I shook my head side to side a bit before crossing one of my legs over the other.
“There is a reason why STRONK and I are the odds-on favorites to win this Saloon fight and capture those brand-new belts. And contrary to popular belief, it’s not because Lee Best or any other member of The Board has stacked the odds in our favor. It’s because STRONK is STILL the #1 ranked wrestler in HOW even though he’s lost a couple matches recently. I am an HOW Hall of Famer and the current LSD Champion. We are built differently, whereas for the rest of you in this match. What have you done lately? Carey is tied at #15 in the rankings. Conor hasn’t wrestled a match since War Games. Brian Hollywood and Xander Azula are Brian Hollywood and Xander Azula. And the ‘Champions’ as they seem to think they will be after Dead or Alive are just…”
I’m interrupted by the sound of my cell phone ringing in my pocket. I roll my eyes then turn towards the EPU member.
“Dammit, stop filming.”
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone as the EPU member does as he’s told then leans back in his seat. I look down at the screen of the phone and the letters PWA appear as the phone continues to ring. I pressed my thumb on the accept call option then raise the phone up to my ear.
The voice on the other end can’t be heard.
“Yeah, I’m just now leaving the arena. I sent the majority of the EPU members off ahead of me but kept one here with me just in case.”
I stared up at the roof of the vehicle as I listened to the person on the other end respond.
“I was doing some digging around. Keeping my ear to the ground but I’m sure you saw what happened tonight. And yes, I know you’re not happy about it, I feel the same way.”
I nodded my head up and down.
“I don’t know as of yet on that matter. I do know something big is probably going to go down on next week’s show. It’s the day after the HOW Dead or Alive PPV.”
I exhaled a quiet sigh.
“Yes, regardless of what happens in my match I will be there. Well, wherever the show is going to be since they have yet to announce that fact.”
The voice on the other end continues to speak.
“Whatever it is I’ll be ready, I will handle it the best way that I see fit. By any means necessary.”
The voice on the other end sounds pleased.
“I’m on my way to tie up one more loose end here in New York. It’s annoying but if I don’t do it now, it’s going to just get worse.”
The voice on the other end immediately switches to anger.
“It’s nothing major, it should take no more than a half an hour tops. I just have to make things right with this woman that goes by the name…”
The voice on the phone interrupts me with even more anger.
“I am focused on my match at Dead or Alive. I’ve been training, I’ve been studying tendencies, I’ve been in the ring or teamed with every single person in this match. Besides, it isn’t a match, it’s a bar fight inside of a Saloon. Broken chairs, broken liqueur bottles, throwing people through the window. I got STRONK on my side, so our victory is guaranteed. It’s just a matter of time. I promise I will just meet with Adi and…”
The voice on the phone begins yelling so loudly that I pull the phone away from my ear. The last few words the person says can be heard throughout the vehicle.
“GET YOUR FUCKING ASS TO TOMBSTONE, ARIZONA IMMEDIATELY OR THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!”
And with that the person hangs up the phone on their end. I narrowed my eyes, not at all pleased with this new development. I rub my free hand over my forehead debating my options in this matter. It doesn’t take too long to make a decision.
“Driver? Change of plans, take us to the nearest airport immediately.”
The driver nodded his head and changed the direction he was driving towards as I slid my phone back into my pocket. A bad day just got even worse and now all of this rage building inside of me was going to get used against six other people on my way to making Tag Team wrestling matter again.
